Earth Day is tomorrow!

Just a reminder that tomorrow is Earth Day. If you have time, stop by my store and look at some Earth Day gifts. If you don't, do something eco-friendly tomorrow:)

A New Passover Recipe

I've been dreading the typical Passover foods: matzah with charosetz, matzah with peanut butter, etc. But today I realized that matzah can be exciting. Today I created a kosher-for-Passover matzah pizza. Here's how you can make your own:

1/2 matzah piece (I used the Yehuda brand. Some brands make matzah that taste absolutely horrible, so choose wisely)
Pasta/marinara sauce
Monterey Jack cheese (Grate it so it makes a cup)
BBQ Sauce

First, take your matzah piece and spread some marinara sauce with a spoon. Cover the matzah with the sauce and then slather some bbq sauce over the matzah. Then, sprinkle some grated Monterey Jack. Put the pizza in an aluminum foil covered pan and put it in the oven. Heat the oven at 350 degrees for 5-10 minutes.
Enjoy the pizza! If you tried this recipe, tell me how it went. I hope it will make keeping kosher for Passover easier. It did for me:)
I meant to take a picture of the masterpiece, but I couldn't find my camera : /  Oh well...(sigh)...again, if you tried this recipe, share the pics! I would love to see them!

Pesach + Too Short Hair (But it's fine)

Well,
today I was going to cut my hair just a bit. Yes, I'm not a professional haircutter, but I was still tempted to grab that scissor and snip away. I put the scissor at the length I wanted my hair to be at, but then, as I snipped, something was wrong. I was snipping upwards and my hair became a lot shorter.
"Great," I said, "This is perfect."
But, when life gives you mistakes, you've got to work with them and fix them, right? So my hair was trimmed just a bit more, to look more even. And now I have some swanky short hair. (I probably snipped off 8-12 inches--yikes!)
Also, today is the day before Passover. Everyone was cleaning and making food for tommorow's seder. A week of no bread, and am I ready for it? I hope so.
One thing's for sure. After Spring break, people are going to talk about my hair.
I learned a lesson today: Always go to a hair salon to get your hair cut.

Earth Day....is it really a year for the Earth?

Out of all the things going on in the world right now, the U.S. government decides to shut down public institutions. Which is really sad....think about all our society has to offer: parks, beaches, and many more. Think about that favorite place, such as Yosemite. Now, envision it closed down. With the budget mess going on in Washington D.C. do we really have to shut down the things most important to us? Think about the EPA, which, in fact, does a lot of good for our environment. However, it too, has to shut down. It's all bad-timing, since Earth Day is right around the corner. I truly wish the U.S. would do the right thing and at least step up for the Earth. However, it is sad that we are withdrawing to help the planet that shelters each of us. Resolution this Earth Day and the years to come: go outdoors and explore. Yes, I may sound like a Hippy, but really this is the only way you can connect with nature. To develop a strong bond with it is a true, humane way to live on the planet.
